Red Wing 8128 Brogue Ranger
Red Wing 8128 Brogue Ranger

Originating in Ireland and Scotland, the brogue style of shoe was recognized for its functional design and quickly adopted by American shoemakers in the early twentieth century. First worn by farmers and gamekeepers, the brogue shoe was intended for use in bogs and wetlands where its water-resistant build performed admirably. Crafted with perforations in the toe-area, these small holes in the leather allowed water to drain from the shoe. The Brogue Ranger is a tweak on our iconic Iron Ranger. Using the design of the Iron Ranger and the functional perforation pattern of brogue shoes, Red Wing Shoes created the Brogue Ranger for those looking for a durable boot with a small twist.

Red Wing style 8128 is the new Brogue Ranger model in the current Heritage Collection. Originally created to perform a specific function, the brogue seam adds elegance to the design based on the classic proportions of the rugged Iron Ranger. With time, the Velva Retain leather of style 8128 develops the authentic, unspoiled charm of a typical Red Wing boot. The look of this Brogue Ranger convinces us that Red Wing Shoes has successfully achieved another milestone in style, form, and quality.
